Research: Level of safe migration awareness, 2015

In January 2015, MIGRA-SAFE project partners (GVC, Phare Ponleu Selpak (PPS) and CWCC)conducted a research on the level of awareness on safe migration across the provinces of Siem Reap, Battambang and Banteay Meanchey. The aim of the study was to measure the results of the awareness-raising campaign conducted by the project partners among potential migrants and their communities.

The campaign consisted of two complementary activities. On one hand, the dissemination of information material through an information session conducted by local authorities and commune leaders; on the other hand, a theatre and arts show  conducted by PPS in all the targeted commune, using performance arts to deliver messages on safe migration.

The activities took place in 45 commune, 15 in each of the target provinces. Over 60.000 Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were produced and disseminated. This also included calendars with detailed information on safe migration practices, posters displayed in public spaces, t-shirts, caps and stickers with telephone hotlines to call for support and messages encouraging migrants to migrate safely.
