This morning the National Committee for Counter Trafficking (NCCT) in Cambodia presented its latest National Strategic Plan on Countering Trafficking in Persons for the years 2019-2023.

During the meeting, presided over by Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Ministry of Interior and Chairperson of the NCCT – the activities that the NCCT will put in place until 2023 were illustrated. The plan has been developed based on the previous one and following the regional and International strategy plan to counter trafficking such as the ASEAN regional workplan, the BALI process and the MoU.

Five strategies will be used to counter trafficking in persons. The actions include the strengthening of: the cooperation in development and implementation laws, policies and other regulations; the prevention measure against all forms of human trafficking and sexual exploitation against children; the criminal justice response to human trafficking and sexual exploitation; the protection mechanism for victims, especially women and children.

Representatives of the institutions and from civil society have taken part in the event of the Ministry of Interior, among others,  Secretary of State and Permanent Vice-Chair person of NCCT H.E. Mrs. Chou Bun Eng, WeWorld-GVC’s Country Representative Simona Capocasale and Legal Support for Women and Children’s Director, Sokchar Mom.
